Performs all clerical and information technology functions for a physician in a specialty clinic setting, including primary responsibility for the operation of electronic health records and electronic dictation systems. Primary goal is to increase the efficiency and productivity of the physician. This position will have no direct involvement in patient care.

Must be able to anticipate physician needs to facilitate the flow of clinic. Must be discreet, tactful, and unobtrusive in performance of duties so as not to distract medical staff from patient care. Good judgment, organizational ability, initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to be self-motivated are especially important. Must be adaptable and versatile. Good attendance is an important element of this job.

The duties of a Scribe are to document the physician dictated patient history, physical examination, family, social, and past medical history as well as document procedures, lab results, dictated radiographic impressions made by the supervising physician and any other information pertaining to the patient’s encounter in the clinical medical setting. Scribes are not patient care providers, nor are they part of the clinical staff.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred; must be able to read, write and speak English.

  • Minimum of a two-year degree, or two years or more experience as a Scribe in a medical office.

  • Medical coding training or certification are preferred.

  • Basic computer knowledge, MS Word and MS Excel.

  • Customer Service Skills.
